Veterans Day music special today at noon

Updated: On Monday, Nov. 11, 2024 starting at noon MT, we present a special Colorado Sound program in honor of Veterans Day. Featuring music as well as audio clips, the show spotlights songs that deal with the experience of being a soldier.
Music has played an important role in our ability to put to words the thanks we have for our veterans. From “The Sands Of Iwo Jima” (Drive-By Truckers) and “Soldier’s Poem” (Muse), to Count Basie with the patriotic brass-band tune “For the Good of Your Country” – and many stops in between – this is an opportunity to salute our heroes.
Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day, recognizing the day (Nov. 11, 1918) that ended WW1. In 1954, this was changed to Veterans Day, which honors veterans of all wars. Today it remains an opportunity to thank veterans for their service and remember the sacrifice so many have made.
To all veterans, this music is for you. And because of you.
Note that if you or someone you know is experiencing any kind of mental health issues related to their service, the Veterans Crisis Line offers confidential support 24/7. Call 988 (then press 1) or text 838255. You do not have to be enrolled in VA benefits or healthcare to connect.
Our special Veterans Day program takes place Mon., Nov. 11 from noon to 1pm MT. Listen along the Front Range at 105.5, from around the world at coloradosound.org, or tell your smart speaker to “play the Colorado Sound.”
