Music 101 Presents Veterans Day

Thank you, veterans

Sunday marked the 100th anniversary since the armistice that ended World War One was signed. On Music 101 this week, Margot has a special program in honor of this important occasion. You can listen to the music from the show below.

Veterans Day honors those who serve – in wartime or peacetime. It is a way to thank all veterans for their service, those not with us, and those in our midst right now.

Music has played an important role in our ability to put to words the thanks we have for our veterans. From Radiohead, whose song “Harry Patch (In Memory Of)” honors World War One veteran Harry Patch, to Count Basie with the patriotic brass-tune “For The Good Of Your Country”, and many stops in between, we all take a moment to salute our heroes.

To all veterans, this music is for you. And because of you.

Here is a playlist of music featured on the episode.

In each episode of Music 101, your host Margot highlights a different chapter in music history, bringing you songs you love and the stories behind them.

Listen to Music 101 on the Colorado Sound every Sunday at 10am MST, with the same episode repeated Wednesday at 8pm MST.
