The Smile perform livestream concerts in London, announce European tour
Attention Radiohead fans: are you ready to Smile?
The Smile is a new band that includes Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood with Sons of Kemet’s Tom Skinner, as well as Radiohead’s longtime producer Nigel Godrich. The name is taken from a poem by Ted Hughes.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are called ‘The Smile.’ Not the smile as in ‘ahh,’ more ‘the smile’ as in, the guy who lies to you every day,” Yorke said during the band’s debut at the (virtual) 2021 Glastonbury festival.

The Smile London Livestream
And in a special event the weekend of Jan. 29 and 30, the band performed three concerts in 24 hours at Magazine London, in the heart of the London’s Docklands. This was the Smile’s first time performing in front of a live audience. In addition, all three concerts were streamed live.
The band performed to a seated audience in the round, and each show was livestreamed around the world in real time. The performances included not only the live concert but also a cinematic film by director Paul Dugdale and produced by Driift.
Britain’s NME published a review of the show, which they described as “stunning.”
A few videos have surfaced from the events, too.

And fans, understandably, were thrilled.
As much as I love in-person concerts, I hope livestreams never go away because then I’d miss incredible performances like this one. The Smile with Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood & Tom Skinner. One more livestream left. https://t.co/XjFVQSUZYk
