Celebrate Tom Petty With This Lumineers Cover

One year ago this week, Tom Petty passed away. It was one those rare moments when we remember for the rest of our lives where we were when we heard the news. 

There are several tributes coming out for the anniversary, and none finer than The Lumineers beautiful rendition of “Walls”, which originally appeared on the soundtrack for She’s The One. 

It’s the type of cover song that fits the spirit of the occasion. It’s at once stark and elegiac, reminding us deeply of what we lost when Petty died. It’s also beautiful and full of light, and perfectly played from one of Colorado’s most important bands of the past decade.  

The two versions are below, serving reminder that Tom Petty’s music is as influential as its ever been, and that’s one of the great things to come out of this week.
