Stacy’s top 5 holiday albums

‘Tis the season to pause and reflect on the past year. Now, I would like to say things are slowing down around The Colorado Sound but alas, there are always things to do! We can’t wait to share all of our new (and vintage) music discovery with you in 2025!
In the meantime if you need a shot of holiday cheer, below are 5 of my holiday go-to albums.
Vince Guaraldi – A Charlie Brown Christmas
Released in 1965 to coincide with the Peanuts Christmas special – it still sounds great! So good in fact, it’s been voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.
Jamie Cullum – The Pianoman at Christmas
Featuring ten original holiday songs, Cullum nails this swingin’ jazz-infused album that sets the holiday mood. Recorded at the Abbey Road studios and enlisting 57 of the UK’s finest musicians, this album is not to missed.
JD McPherson – Socks
This is a feel-good, irreverent album that will put a jingle in your step. If you need a soundtrack for the holidays that will make you laugh and get you in the spirit, put this one on.
Verve Wishes You A Swinging Christmas
If you’re looking for a jazzy holiday, this collection features four LPs including Ramsey Lewis, Jimmy Smith, Kenny Burrell and, rounding out the sound, the classic Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas.
Doug Munro – A Very Gypsy Christmas
Jazz guitar virtuoso Doug Munro channels his love of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli into fifteen re-worked holiday classics. If Gypsy Jazz moves your holiday soul, check this one out.
Honorable mentions:
Aaron Neville – Soulful Christmas
Straight No Chaser – Holiday Spirits
