Public Radio Music Day

public radio music day 2022

Today (Oct. 26) is Public Radio Music Day, and being a public radio music station, we are joining the noncomMUSIC Alliance and public radio music stations across the country to celebrate!

Now in its third year, Public Radio Music Day is a celebration uniting public radio music stations, artists, and fans to highlight the contributions of public radio to local and national noncommercial music.

So many artists we play have seen success thanks to public radio, whether through national outlets such as NPR Music or stations like the Colorado Sound.

This year’s theme is “Discovering the Sound of Local Communities,” which resonates well with us, since we spin all sorts of artists right from our Colorado community. Listen every day and you might hear George Cessna, flipturn, the Velveteers, the Reminders, or Alysia Kraft – not to mention internationally known artists such as Gregory Alan Isakov, the Lumineers, and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats.

In addition, we recently showcased artists like Conrad Mata and 2MX2 in our Music Discovery series. And this past summer we launched the inaugural Colorado Sound Music Awards, designed for exactly what this year’s theme is about – spotlighting some of many incredible artists who call Colorado home.

Many of the artists we play, whether from Colorado or elsewhere in the world, create music you only hear on public radio. And that’s one of the big reasons we are celebrating Public Radio Music Day.

Listen all day today for shout-outs to Public Radio Music Day and the wide, wonderful world of Colorado music!

About the noncomMUSIC Alliance

The noncomMUSIC Alliance celebrates public radio’s role in connecting musicians, performers, and artists with audiences who enjoy and support their music. The Alliance highlights the work of noncommercial public radio as an essential source of music discovery, curation, preservation, performance, and community. Additionally, the Alliance advocates and supports issues that threaten to upend the noncommercial music industry and the contribution of its members.
