One-Hit Wonder Weekend returns Sept. 23-25

Updated Sept. 19, 2022:

Who are your favorite One Hit Wonders? Katrina and the Waves? Peter Bjorn and John? The Sugarhill Gang? Feist? Listen to the Colorado Sound this weekend and you’re sure to hear your favorites, as starting Friday, Sept. 23 at 5pm MST we are launching an entire One Hit Wonder Weekend

In The Billboard Book of One-Hit Wonders, music journalist Wayne Jancik defines a one-hit wonder as “an act that has won a position on [the] national, pop, Top 40 record chart just once.” They may produce more music over their careers, and have other minor hits, but that one song defines them. Popular examples include “99 Red Balloons” by Nena, “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, “Seasons in the Sun” by Terry Jacks, “Lunatic Fringe” by Red Rider, and “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley.

Sunday, Sept. 25 is officially National One Hit Wonder Day, but we’re making a whole weekend of the experience. Our One Hit Wonder Weekend starts Friday at 5pm MST and runs all day Saturday and Sunday.

And speaking of Saturday:
