Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ Video Turns 30
Thirty years ago today (Aug. 17, 1991), Nirvana filmed the video for their song “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” If it’s been a while since you’ve seen it, the premise is a school concert event that gets a bit out of control.
The video was shot on a limited budget by Samuel Bayer, who went on to have a prolific music video career before branching into award-winning commercials. He also briefly dabbled in feature filmmaking (the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street).
