Neyla Pekarek of The Lumineers played to a packed room last night at Lost Lake Lounge. She performed songs from her “folk opera” about Rattlesnake Kate.
For your background, Rattlesnake Kate was a Colorado pioneering woman of much acclaim. She is known for her “handling” of rattlesnakes during the snake migration in the 1920s. See Neyla’s rattlesnake dress for an idea on what Rattlesnake Kate, who was from Greeley, did to those rattlers.
Neyla’s live rendition of that “folk opera” can be seen in the slideshow. Word is, she’s currently working on a studio album of her folk opera tales. It was a very theatrical night. Great musicianship, too!
