Nathaniel Rateliff And Mark Shusterman On The Colorado Sound, Friday At Noon

Colorado’s very own Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats sure are doing us proud! The Colorado Sound is featuring them ahead of their album release Friday in several spots.

In addition to having our Album Of The Week this week, Nathaniel Rateliff and Mark Shusterman will be joining Margot at noon on Friday for a very special DJ Takeover.

National Spotlight

Tearing at The Seamsout Friday, March 9, is being released on Stax. They’ll celebrate with an appearance on The Late Show Featuring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, March 12.

It’s already been a bit of dream month for the Denver-based band.

On March 3, they performed at Grand Ole Opry and on March 8, in a show befitting to its soul roots, they will play Apollo Theater in New York.

In The News

There have been many interviews with the band in the run-up to the release.

Nathaniel Rateliff tells the Financial Times in a wide-ranging interview about his musical influences: “My parents played music in church too, and that made me ask: if God created music, why is secular music — the devil’s music — so much better than God’s music?”

In another long interview with the band, bassist Joseph Pope told Billboard on how he joined the band. “He [Rateliff] sent me those first Night Sweats demos and that was the moment I knew what I was doing with my life,” he said in a March 1 story.

And the reviews are coming in. In one of the only pre-release reviews we’ve seen, Newsday says Tearing At The Seams cements the band as “as one of Americana’s brightest new stars.”

It’s something us Coloradoans shouldn’t be surprised about. The question is, are we ready to share our favorite sons? Looks like their may be no choice.
