Music 101: second wave feminism

In honor of International Women’s Day (March 8),  Music 101 this week explores the history of the second wave of feminism through audio clips and songs.

Also known as the Women’s Liberation Movement, the second wave of feminism began during the late 1960s and lasted into the early ’80s.

One song in particular was an anthem for Women’s Lib, “I Am Woman.” This week’s episode of Music 101 tells the story of how it became a hit under unlikely odds.
