Marcus Mumford’s new song ‘Cannibal’ is raw, personal, powerful – watch the video

This is Mumford’s debut solo album. The most recent album he released with his band Mumford & Sons was 2018’s Delta.

Accompanying the album announcement, Mumford today released a brand-new song and video, “Cannibal.”
A word of warning: this raw, deeply personal song deals with trauma Mumford experienced as a child, so keep this in mind when deciding where and when to listen to it.
Mumford released a (hand-written) statement about the song and the upcoming album. “Facing demons I danced with a long time in isolation, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal,'” Mumford writes. The album, he continues, was produced by his friend Blake Mills and features Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, and Monica Martin.

The video, Mumford revealed a few days later, was directed by Steven Spielberg…yes, that Spielberg. And he shot it on a phone.
On Sunday 3rd July in a high school gym in New York, Steven Spielberg directed his first music video, in one shot, on his phone. Kate Capshaw was the almighty dolly grip. pic.twitter.com/9KUvONG4u3
