Made in UK Day

What started as an initiative by one woman, Kate Hills, to champion British-made goods and businesses and boost local economies has turned into a cultural celebration. This Saturday, March 9, we’re excited to join in with a musical tribute to artists from the United Kingdom on what is known as Made in UK Day.

Starting just after midnight on Saturday (when our UK friends can tune in and listen) we will feature artists from across the United Kingdom all day long.

Sure, you might here classics from British Invasion bands like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Who, or punk artists such as the Cure, Wire, the Fall, the Smiths, Joy Division, and the Clash.

And of course you may catch a song here and there from Britpop artists such as Blur, Oasis, or Pulp, or trip hop classics from the likes of Massive Attack and Tricky.

But the massive UK influence on rock music continues to this day. So expect to also hear plenty of contemporary artists, too – from Big Joanie to Wet Leg.

And of course you’ll also hear plenty of surprises.

Finally, come 9pm, we’ll feature an all-UK version of Original Wave, running 9pm to midnight.

Listen to our Made in UK Day music special on Saturday, March 9 from midnight to midnight. Tune at 105.5. on the Front Range or from anywhere in the world at coloradosound.org.
