Discover the bilingual Latin-rock-reggae sound of Colorado’s Jyemo Club

Colorado band Jyemo Club is a 9-piece group that fuses elements of rock and hip-hop with Latin rhythms, bilingual lyrics, and, as they describe it, a “reggae sensibility.” On songs like “Issa Ting” (featuring fellow Colorado group the Reminders) and the upbeat, dance-friendly “Feliz,” the band has an inviting sound that’s multilayered, full of life, and easy to love.

Like the music they play, the bandmembers – led by Jonny Jyemo, who gives the group its name – are truly diverse, hailing from Cuba, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, and Mexico, as well as the U.S.

“I’ve always wished more people from this country would listen to music that is not sung in English,” Jyemo told BandWagon in a recent interview. “There is so much out there. Language should not be a barrier, but an invitation to connect.”

“When all is hopeless, choose love,” Jyemo says. “The future is multilingual and multicultural. Let’s start now.”
