Happening March 2 at Washington’s, The Colorado Sound birthday party will feature headliner and soul extraordinaire, Eli Paperboy Reed. His high octane live show is sure to be the perfect way to start our fourth year on absolute fire – with horns blazing, to be sure.
This show will serve as a prelude to his Yep Roc release 99 Cent Dreams, due April 12. Recorded at the legendary Sam Phillips Recording studio in Memphis, 99 Cent Dreams has a groovy retro-soul fit to it. Expect lots of brass, southern-styled guitar licks, and a band overflowing the stage.
Israel Nash and Colorado’s Dressy Bessy will get things started. Nash, a Dripping Springs, Texas singer-songwriter had one of the absolute best albums of 2018 with the gorgeous, psychedelic and folk-inspired Lifted. Here’s a flavor of Nash’s meticulous, sonically induced live set.
And Dressy Bessy is a staple on the Denver power pop scene, true to their Elephant Six Recording Company roots. Led by the frenzied pacesetter of lead-woman Tammy Ealon, the veteran band released the jolting KINGSIZED in 2016, which featured the work of R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Minus 5 frontman Scott McCaughey.
