Colorado concert highlights Sept. 13-18

As a Colorado Sound listener, I’m guessing music is important in your life, and seeing live music is always near the top of your to-do list! Below is just a small sample of shows from our Concert Calendar that I think you’ll want to know about and consider adding to your calendar.

Fri., Sept. 13

Gegin your weekend with Colorado favorite Tony Furtado, who visits the outdoor venue set up at Fort Collins Nursery on Hwy. 14 in Fort Collins. Furtado has toured with Gregg Allman and played Telluride Bluegrass Festival many times. If you’re in the mood for free music (and when are you not?), the War And Treaty makes a stop at Levitt Pavilion in Denver.

Sat., Sept. 14

Today’s picks are both in Boulder. First is the legendary Lucinda Williams, who comes to the historic Macky Auditorium on the CU campus. And then just down the lane and across Broadway, The Colorado Sound presents John Moreland at the intimate Fox Theatre.

Sun., Sept. 15

If you’ve seen Tank & the Bangas in the past, then you understand our happiness of them playing an outdoor show at the Gardens on Spring Creek in Fort Collins. Sometimes it’s hard for an indoor venue to contain their energy!

Tues., Sept. 17

It’s hard to find a time in the past 40 years when Johnny Marr wasn’t making music, playing shows or guesting on other bands’ albums. Our guess is he’ll mix in some Smiths tunes when he and the band James play the Paramount Theatre in Denver.

Wed., Sept. 18

The day has arrived for the 3rd annual Colorado Sound Music Awards at the Boulder Theater! Not only will we be announcing the winners and presenting them with awards, we’ll also have a rare solo performance from Todd Park Mohr (of Big Head Todd & the Monsters), a trio featuring Alysia Kraft (last year’s Outstanding Stage Presence winner), and the Latin cumbia sounds of Ritmo Cascabel!
