Bring to a Boil and Cover weekend special
Did you know that Soft Cell’s 1980s hit “Tainted Love” was actually a cover of a song first released by Gloria Jones two decades earlier? How about the fact that “Bette Davis Eyes” wasn’t a Kim Carnes original but first recorded by Jackie DeShannon?
If you knew these factoids already, you’re probably a fan Margot’s daily feature Bring to a Boil and Cover, which airs on The Colorado Sound every weekday at 2pm MT.
This weekend, we’re taking the idea even further for an entire Bring to a Boil and Cover weekend special! Starting Friday, April 7 at 5pm and running all day Saturday and Sunday, we’re spinning an original song and a cover version back-to-back, with some fun stories about the artists and songs in-between.
Maybe you’ll hear punk band the Decendents doing their cover of the Beach Boys’ “Wendy”:
Or Fontaines D.C. doing a compelling cover on Nick Drake’s “Cello Song” from the 2023 tribute The Endless Coloured Ways: The Songs Of Nick Drake (the album is due out this July).
Our Bring to a Boil and Cover weekend special will be full of many surprises, so tune in to see what we have in store.
The special begins Friday, April 6 at 5pm MT and runs all day Saturday and Sunday. Listen at 105.5 along the Front Range or online from anywhere in the world. You can also simply tell your smart speaker to “play The Colorado Sound.”
