A cover song is a new performance or recording of a song from an artist other than the original songwriter or performer. Famous cover songs include Nirvana’s interpretation of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World,” Ike and Tina Turner’s version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary,” Johnny Cash’s reworking of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt,” and Soft Cell’s take on the 1964 Gloria Jones hit “Tainted Love.”

A more recent example is Jeremiah Fraites and Gregory Alan Isakov’s brand-new version of Radiohead’s “No Surprises.”

Or a Phil Collins classic as done by Lucy Dacus.

So which cover songs are your favorites? You can vote for up to 10, and they can be in any genre: rock, hip-hop, folk, funk, country, pop, R&B, jazz, experimental, classical…the choice is entirely up to you.
