It’s strange times out there, friends. As scary as it has turned, I’m of the mind that in some way (aside from the virus) this was heaven sent. Gifted time to slow down, ask questions, grow closer to friends and loved ones, and to create. My grandma said to me yesterday, “We need those who have a voice to sing for us.” My friend @christhile and @livefromhereapm has started a concert series called #LiveFromHome that does JUST that. A way to bring performances straight to you until we are physically able. Heck, I put on my suit just for the occasion. The artists I nominate to carry it onward are @andrewbirdmusic, @mandymooremm and @ironandwinetour @casadecalexico Due to cancellations, many artists may not have a stable income stream. If you would like to support in this time, the best way to do so is by purchasing music and merch directly from them. #livefromhome #livefromhere #andrewbird #ironandwine #mandymoore #calexico

Hey loves! I hope you are making the most of your time in solitude. Here’s a poem to help ya through your day. Thank you @arspoetica.us for such a beautiful idea. Proud to be one of your volunteer poets? Love, strength, and peace to you all❤️, A.J. What I Can I had hoped to roam amid the fluorescent hum mindless, haphazardly uncrinkling a list from my pocket, led astray by fleshy grapefruit, misted mustard greens, seduced by strawberries ripened under a softer Texan sun. But today, there are no wives in the avocadoes, no babies in the tomatoes. Empty metal shelves screech a cold dull cacophony. A sharp breath escapes, startled by how quickly we slip into hoarding habits– as if the earth was sucked dry. A gentle hand points, Where did you find those? then slowly lowers to find respite on the cart. Her hands remind me of the ones that once taught: to make sweet potato slips, to shell purple hull peas, to steady the mixer, to roll the dough, to can the tomatoes, to wash the aphids from the greens, to feed the multitude. So together we glide past the void to come back to ourselves, searching for the isopropyl on aisle 8. I reach for the shelf above our heads, sharing what I can even if it’s only time.

We’ve started a GoFundMe! Link here>> gf.me/u/xrh8nf. Hello Friends of Cervantes’! As you know, all venues, restaurants & bars in Colorado are now closed through May 11 and to help contain the spread of Covid-19. Our awesome & dedicated staff are suddenly out of work & will need money for rent, food, utilities, healthcare, etc. Any amount you can give will be divided among all of our staff: door staff, production, bartenders, bar backs and box office. In the meantime, stay safe, healthy and support the local musicians who are doing live streams and lessons online. We’re in this together and look forward to getting down with you all soon. We love you and we’ll be back

hello from the void ? like so many of you i’m at home waiting all of this out. walking the line of optimism & pessimism, feeling grateful & feeling burned. pure emotional disorientation. as some of you know : our spring tour has been postponed. i’ve taken a very long time between tours & in my months of quiet preparation for saint cloud, i was on the track moving enthusiastically toward being lit up & ecstatic & social & READY to be with the people & be with the songs. never in my wildest anxiety-riddled dreams would i have ever predicted this & yet here we all are. i’ve been grieving what was supposed to be for the last week & running through all the downsides of having the plan be upended. interestingly i’m landing in some pretty light & spirited places. shit is so scary but i’m hoping that in our collective respite we can take good care, be creative, love each other, read some books, be productive, stay connected & know that eventually we’ll all emerge having done what we could as a species to fight a shared obstacle. please please please stay home if you’re able. take it seriously. because this truly is a shared obstacle. ? thursday at 9 EST/6 PST @kevinmorby & i are gonna go live here on ig to play songs, take guests, have a nice evening with y’all. tune in then. ? thanks for all the “can’t do much” love yesterday. i’m so happy to be putting out some new tunes in the midst of this strange foggy bedlam. feels like we all need that stuff now more than ever. more info on the tour some time soon. we’ll all be back together eventually. so much love to all of you. ?
