On Friday, Sept. 1, the 10 Colorado musicians/bands and 10 film/video makers participating in this year’s 53:14 Music Video Experiment premiered their work at the Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins, Colo.
B Faith, Brent Cowles, Cary Morin, Dead Pioneers, Doom Scroll, Fiona Sofia, Hygeia, Jesus Christ Taxi Driver, Megan Burtt, and Mystee were each paired with a Colorado film/video artist to create a unique, professionally produced music video – all with a budget of $1000 and a time limit of 53 hours and 14 minutes.
During the allotted time, the teams of musicians and filmmakers had to conceive, shoot, edit, and deliver an original music video. Filmmakers and musicians didn’t know who they are working with until the kickoff event in August.
Now that the videos are complete, it’s time to celebrate!
Ahead of the video premieres, the evening also included live music from modrn and Colorado Sound Music Awards nominee Alysia Kraft.
The filmmakers participating in this year’s 53:14 are:
- Black Sparrow Media – dir. Jamal Page
- CSI Films – dir. Blake Miller
- Film Locale – dir. R.W. Perkins
- LISTO Pictures – dir. Samantha Hanus
- Arcadian Pictures – dir. John Hunt
- Intrepid Grizzly – dir. Micah Baird
- Altr. Agency – dir. Ethan Lien and Jordan Altergott
- Neptune Sugar – dir. Brian Buss
- Nosy Neighbor Pictures – dir. Dillon James Cole
We will post the videos here as they are released publicly by each artist.
Note that 53:14 is not a competition. The organizers aim for it to be a collaborative, community-building experience. Congrats to everyone who participated this year!
